The Mickey Sims Memorial Golf Outing

The Mickey Sims Memorial Golf Outing is a fundraising event in memory of our Father and former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle, Robert “Mickey” Sims. He was drafted in 1977 and played 3 seasons with the Browns before retiring from the game. Mickey was truly considered a gentle giant because despite his large frame he was a kind, gentle, and giving soul. He passed away in June 2006 of a massive heart attack, leaving behind his wife, Brenda, my brother and current Detroit Lion, Rob, and myself. Our family continues to honor his legacy as player, deacon, father and friend to so many through the act of giving back to the community.

This year our family has decided to donate all proceeds to Cornerstone of Hope – A Center for Grieving Children, Teens, and Adults. Cornerstone of Hope provides counseling, youth grief camps, art therapy, support groups and wide variety of programs for individuals and families who seek support after the loss of a loved one. We are passionate about the mission of Cornerstone of Hope, as it directly relates to the circumstances of our own loss. We are asking for your help in giving hope back. You can help us by registering to participate in the golf outing, purchasing dinner tickets, providing gifts for the live and silent auction held at the event, or if you are unable able to attend we humbly ask you to consider making a financial gift in loving memory of this great man.
